Logans Ridge V Eagles

Hi, I would like to hike Mt Barney again this winter and looking at doing a different route. I have previously done the SE Ridge and Logans ridge a number of times and would like to know how Eagles compares to Logans, how much more difficult is it?

Hi, eagles ridge is also on my to do list. But I’m yet to give it a go. I’m not sure how much research you’ve done, but some good advice about it can be found on these two links:

  1. https://www.southee.com/Bushwalking/Ch13-BarneyBallow.html#label045
  2. https://www.wikiloc.com/mountaineering-trails/mt-barney-eagles-ridge-se-ridge-circuit-3477056

I’m sure theres more out there, but these are just the quick ones I’ve found now.
Let me know how you go with it, would be great to hear some more stories about eagles ridge.

Thanks again Auringonlaskun, I found the first article very interesting and one I will keep for future reference. I usually check YouTube for videos as I get a better picture of what to expect, written articles are often very subjective, depending on the experience of the one who does the walk. It looks like Eagles is very much as I thought, a rope is advisable, and it would probably be good to go with someone who has done it before, this may well rule out this route for me as I don’t want to carry ropes, partly because at 71 years old I don’t want to carry the extra weight and partly because I usually walk alone and that would make it more difficult to attach ropes and it would also probably be pretty irresponsible.
